A fiery rendition of "All Along the Watchtower" can't touch Dylan's or Hendrix's, of course, but it's still a late-night FM radio staple.Elsewhere, Mason lets loose some of his best guitar playing on meaty, substantial songs like the surprisingly forceful "Show Me Some Affection" and the lengthy closer "You Can't Take it When You Go." The soft rock tunes are still present and accounted for as well, with "It Can't Make Any Difference to Me" and "Harmony and Melody" standing out. The punning "Relation Ships" is a bit too cute, but the rest of the album still sounds fine. |
